ENGAGING THE WORD TO FIND OUT THE TRUTH ABOUT THIS TIME OF LIFE

It is true that we have sinned and we are been punished for our sins. But in the light of God’s plan to gather unto himself the remnants who will be made to reign and rule with Christ Jesus as overcomers, there is an assignment God is committing to the church- the body of Christ and to every individual believer. What assignment is it? It is the assignment of intercession.

The word intercessor comes from the word "to intercede"-to intervene or mediate on behalf of another. It is a higher form of prayer on behalf of others.

God wants us to stand in gap at this time as intercessors to labor for the inheritance that is to be delivered unto us. God desire that we intercede for the nations of the world, the body of Christ as a whole and for ourselves as individual. We have to intercede for mercy, grace and judgment. We have to earnestly intercede that we be numbered and gathered among the remnant that are to reign with Christ at the end of this war. This intercessory assignment must be carried out strategically.

We must begin to intercede at the following level:

·         Kingship level

·         Priesthood level, and

·         Watchers/Gate keepers level

This implies that we must intercede as Kings, Priests and watchmen/Gatekeepers.

The King as an intercessor intercedes over territories. He is a territorial intercessor because he has a territorial influence. His position speaks of guidance and direction to a nation or territory. The king is a father in his role as an intercessor.

The priest as an intercessor goes before the people on their behalf spiritually by interceding on their behalf. This does not mean we are called to vocational "priestly" pastorate ministry; it means we are called to intercede for those we are called to serve. We are called to lay down our lives for that worker next to us in the cubicle, that CEO who operates at the top of your cultural mountain, or that government leader who wants to change your values in your state or nation. We are called to rebuild the ancient ruins.

The Gatekeeper/Watcher as an intercessor perform the following roles;

1. Protect the Lord’s house. 

2. They keep the Lord’s people on the right path, keeping them from drifting from the Lord.

3. They keep watch for the master’s return; ready to usher in the King of Glory

According to the Old Testament, a gatekeeper was a Levite. Gatekeepers were also watchmen on the walls. They were ministering priests from the tribe of Levi. Gatekeepers were trusted officials and high priests in the servant role of protecting the Lord’s house. They were stationed at all 4 gates (N, S, E, W). They also appointed and taught others around them to guard the gate as well. Their hearts were fully committed to the Lords will. Today’s gatekeepers hope and pray for revival and eagerly await the Lord’s return. They are always prepared and continually remind others to be ready. Gatekeepers made sure that nothing unholy entered into God’s house and nothing was allowed to leave unless it had approval. They were in charge of the Temple items and treasuries of the House of the Lord.

"So I sought for a man among them who would make a wall, and stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land, that I should not destroy it; but I found no one. Therefore I have poured out My indignation on them; I have consumed them with the fire of My wrath; and I have recompensed their deeds on their own heads," says the Lord God (Ezekiel 22:30-31).

Sometimes God is looking for the individual to stand in the gap for a situation that requires judgment that can only be averted by one who is willing to stand on behalf of the offender.
